Buy power from the house next door

Someone near you has solar and a battery, and most days they make more than they use. NaijaWattX meters what you take from them and charges you by the unit, at a price you see before you connect.

Live metering

Every watt counted to within 1%, so you pay for what came down the wire.

Prepaid balance

Your money sits on the meter, not with the seller, until you use it.

Sellers set the price

Each seller picks their rate per unit. You see it before connecting.

Works without signal

The meter keeps counting and stays fair when the network drops.

How it works

Power goes one way. Money goes the other.

The meter sits between you and your neighbour. It is the only thing that has to be trusted, and it works whether or not there is a signal.

The meter is the middle of the trade. Power moves from your neighbour’s battery into your flat. Money moves the other way, out of the balance you loaded onto the meter and into their wallet, at whatever rate they set. Nothing leaves your balance until power actually flows.

The meter does this by itself. It is not waiting on our server to decide. The balance and the switch both live in the box on your wall, so it keeps counting fairly with the SIM pulled out, and remembers where it got to if the power cycles.
Both sides

One meter. Two kinds of neighbour.

The same box goes on either wall. What changes is which side of the trade you are on.

If you have solar

Sell the sun you don’t use

Your panels make the most power at the exact hours you are out of the house. That power is going nowhere.

  • You set your own price per unit.
  • See who is connected and what they are drawing.
  • Money lands in your wallet. Withdraw to your bank.
  • Turn any neighbour off from your phone.
If you don’t

Skip the generator

No fuel queue, no noise, no servicing, no fumes. You buy units the same way you buy airtime.

  • See the price before you connect.
  • Nothing is taken until you use power.
  • We text you before you run out.
  • Top up and the light comes straight back on.

Tell us what you have.

We switch on street by street, and we size each street before we go. What you tell us here decides where we start.

01

Who are we texting?

One message when we reach your street. Nothing else, and no email.

e.g. 0803 000 0000
02

Would you actually use this?

Be honest. It helps more than a polite yes.

Would you actually use this?
03

Which side are you on?

Selling means you have solar. Buying means you want to stop running a generator.

Which side are you on?
04

What kind of place is this?

A shopping complex or a church can sell to the units around it, not only to houses. This tells us which pitch to bring.

05

Where are you?

Street or estate name is enough. This is the field that decides who we reach first.

06

What do you run in your home?

Tap the plus for each one you have. This tells us how much power your street needs and which sellers can carry you.
